Teach-back is the check, not a second speech

This track exists so a student can explain an idea after the interface is closed. The product is a spoken or written teach-back another person can mark. It is not a certificate, not an IQ claim, and not a race to open a new app. HNK’s positioning stays the same here as on the home page: turn AI output into an inspectable human explanation.

A reviewer (family member, teacher, or classmate) uses the observation sheet below. The reviewer does not complete the student’s sentences. The reviewer records what was asked, what was said, and what should be revised. Observation is not assessment of a person. It is a record of one explanation on one day.

Teach-back observation sheet

Question order is fixed. Skip a later question if an earlier answer already fails. This sheet does not transmit; print it if you prefer paper.

  1. Ask: “Say the idea in ordinary speech, with the screen closed.” Record the answer.
  2. Ask: “Which word did you use that you cannot define?” Record the word.
  3. Ask: “What would make that explanation false?” Record the condition.
  4. Ask: “What did you refuse to send to the model?” Record the refusal, or write “none named”.
  5. Write one revision request. One. Not a list of style notes.

What this track refuses

Opening the tool first and writing the explanation afterward. Replacing a weak student sentence with a better generated one. Treating fluency as proof. Collecting screenshots without a human account of what they show. The next assignment after a failed teach-back is a clearer human sentence, not a more impressive interface.
