Refusal is a skill with a written list
Responsible use on this track is a list of limits the student can defend without looking at a policy poster. Privacy, source honesty, and not using other people’s unpublished work are practiced as spoken refusals. A student who can only recite a slogan has not yet done the track. A student who can name one prompt they will not send, and why, has started.
The artifact is a boundary list of five lines: (1) data I will not paste, (2) claims I will not repeat without a source, (3) images I will not generate of a real person without consent thinking, (4) work I will not submit unlabeled, (5) help I will not accept if it replaces my sentence. Mentors may add a sixth line for the local school rule. They may not delete a student’s honest “I do not know.”
- Practice the refusal before the first impressive demo.
- Write the reason next to the ban, or the ban is decoration.
- Rehearse saying “I will not paste that” in ordinary speech.
