insight / HNK · family evaluation

Compare folders, not slogans about the future of work.

A family choosing a program should ask to see a marked explanation, a limitation note, and a teach-back — then walk if those objects do not exist.

The reader

This page is for a family comparing more than one offering. The parent briefing is for a kitchen-table audit of one student’s work. This page is for the purchase-or-decline decision. HNK is one option. Treat this text as a standard you can carry into other conversations, including conversations that decline HNK.

Ask to see four objects

  1. An explanation card with claim, source, limit, and human duty filled by a student, not by a designer.
  2. A limitation log with dates. Empty dates mean the habit is not running.
  3. A teach-back note written by a second student or an adult who did not author the card.
  4. A refusal example: a paste that was not made, with a one-line reason.

If a program answers with a logo wall, a future-of-work video, or a certificate mock-up, you still do not have the four objects. Fluency is cheap. Folders are not.

Ask who marks the work

A program without a named marker is a content feed. The marker does not need to be a software specialist. They need a rubric that fits on one page and a duty not to ghostwrite. If the only adult in the story is “an AI mentor” with no negative duties, keep looking.

Claims you should not accept from anyone, including this site

Placement percentages. Unnamed university partnerships. Guaranteed scores. “Official” ministry language without a document. HNK’s public pages refuse those claims. Owner confirmation that a practice operates is not evidence of those extras. If another brochure offers them without a source you can open, treat the extras as decoration.

A one-hour comparison

Spend twenty minutes on each of three sites. Write down, for each: the one-line job of the program, the mailbox, the artifact, and one thing the site says it will not claim. If you cannot fill those four fields, the site is not ready for a family decision. For HNK the four fields are: turn AI output into an inspectable human explanation; info@hnk.org; explanation card plus teach-back; no awards or enrollment numbers on the public pages.

This page is method writing from HNK Institute. It describes a teaching practice. It does not report measured learning gains, partner logos, enrollment dates, or awards. Owner confirmation on 2026-10-04 covers that the practice operates and that info@hnk.org exists; it does not cover any number on this page because this page publishes none.
